| Total elimination of terrorists only way forward: COAS |

| [NATION.PK] Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has said the only way forward in military operations is total elimination of terrorists. Speaking at a briefing in Corps Headquarters Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire. on Saturday, he appreciated the achievements made by the armed forces in intelligence-based operations against terrorists. The COAS said operation Zarb-e-Azb ..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)... would continue till complete elimination of terrorists. He was sure that operations would ultimately result in better border management. He also appreciated the intelligence-based operations. He was also briefed on the intelligence-based operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa ... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central... and the tribal areas. The army chief underlined the need for coordination among all the agencies for dignified and timely return of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) to their homes. He added the return of the TDPs would begin by the middle of the current month. |
