[RUDAW.NET] The US-led coalition to fight the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) carried out 32 Arclight airstrikes in Iraq and 14 in Syria on Monday, US Defense Ministry announced in a statement.

The Arclight airstrikes in Syria targeted at least seven ISIS bases and several armored vehicles were destroyed near Kobane, ethically Kurdish city in northearn Syria.

Also on Monday, Kurdish Peshmerga forces cleared a large swath of territory south of the oil-rich city of Kirkuk in an advance backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes from the coalition forces.

Coalition Arclight airstrikes, carried out in areas near to the cities of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
reportedly destroyed a number of ISIS bases.

Iraq's local military forces have also been actively operating in different parts of Iraq with support from US-led coalition Arclight airstrikes.

Military efforts to retake Iraqi city of Tikrit, the hometown of former dictator Saddam Hussein, is now on its ninth day, with officials claiming the city will be recaptured soon.
