Israel's Netanyahu declares victory in tight race
2015-03-18
[APNEWS.MYWAY] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared victory after a tight national election appeared to give him the upper hand in forming the country's next coalition government.

In a statement released on Twitter, Netanyahu says that "against all odds" his Likud party and the nationalist camp secured a "great victory."

Initial exit polls showed Netanyahu's Likud Party deadlocked with the center-left Zionist Union.

But the results indicated that Netanyahu will have an easier time cobbling together a majority coalition with hard-line and religious allies. Netanyahu said he had already begun to call potential partners.
Update at 3:30 Tel Aviv Time:
With 75 percent of precincts reporting before dawn on Wednesday

Likud 31 seats
Zionist Union 24 seats
Yesh Atid 11 seats
Joint Arab List 11 seats
Kulanu 9 seats
Bayit Yehudi 8 seats
Shas 8 seats
Yisrael Beytenu 7 seats
United Torah Judaism 6 seats
Meretz 5 seats

#7  As per #6, Netanyahu's fear of Israeli Arabs-Muslims "voting in droves/large masses" indics to me that the clock is ticking agz traditional Israeli policies.

However imperfect or unsettling, DEMOGRAPHICS DON'T LIE - THE TIME IS NOW FOR ISRAEL TO LOOK "OUTSDIE THE BOX" + FORMALLY JOIN NATO-EU + OTHER POLITIES IN ALLIANCE.

Moreso wid OWG Globalism leading or inducing the US to engage in WORLD-WIDE STRATEGIC SELF-RETREAT = "MILPOL/GEOPOL SELFIE". GOD HELP ISRAEL + WEST IFF THE BAMMER'S POST-JAN. 2017 SUCCESSOR IS ANOTHER SUPER-PC, ANTI-US US = ANTI-AMERICAN AMERIKAN GLOBALIST.

* FYI TOPIX, WORLD NEWS > NYT COLUMNIST THOMAS FRIEDMAN CALLS FOR US TO ARM ISIS AGZ IRAN.

IIRC Mr. Friedman is Jewish - not unlike the USA vee Rising Iran, Friedman is calling on the US to support-n-arm the anti-Israel, anti-US ISIS in order to offset Going-Nuclear-wid-US-n-Western-Help-n-Support Shia Iran, I.E. EMPOWERING = MAKE STRONGER AN ENEMY OR RIVAL, + ALIGNED, THAT COULD TURN AROUND + EXISTENTIALLY DESTROY ISRAEL + US-WEST.

Such is the flux we are in.

WESTERN CHRISTIANS ARMING THE OTTOMANS IN ORDER TO DEFEAT CONSTANTINOPLE = BYZANTIUM.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG!

#6  Dir, I saw as low as 17 seats. Apparently the thought of Arabs in charge of the government, along with Obama's interference in the election, swung things to Likud BIG. It also didn't help the opposition that their leader said he'd trust Obama to get a good deal with Iran.

I think that more than anything else panicked people and won Likud the day. But what do I know, I'm not an Isreali.

#4  31 for Likud is astonishing good. Four days ago The Economist was predicting they would get 21.
