| 27 Houthis reportedly killed in S. Yemen ambush |

| [AA.TR] At least 27 Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews... holy warriors were reportedly killed in an ambush in Yemen's southern Ad Dali city on Monday. "About 27 Houthis were killed and more than 20 others injured when a Houthi military convoy was ambushed in central Ad Dali city," a member of a local vigilante group loyal to embattled President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi told The Anadolu Agency. He said the Houthi convoy had been en route to Aden to provide support to pro-Houthi forces who are currently shelling parts of the southern city. The pro-Hadi vigilante, for his part, said that 24 Houthi holy warriors had been captured by vigilante groups in the southern restive Lahj ... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement province. There has been no comment from the Shiite Houthi group regarding the reports. Fractious Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... has remained in turmoil since last September, when the Houthis overran capital Sanaa, from which they have sought to extend their influence to other parts of the country. Since March 25, Houthi positions have been subject to frequent attack by warplanes from countries participating in a Saudi-led air campaign against the Shiite bully boy group. Riyadh says the campaign is in response to earlier appeals by Hadi -- who is currently in Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... -- to "save the [Yemeni] people from the Houthi militias." The Houthis, for their part, have decried the Saudi-led offensive, describing it as unwarranted "Saudi-American aggression." Some Gulf States accuse Shiite Iran of supporting Yemen's Houthi insurgency. |
