Power outages in Washington affect White House, government buildings
2015-04-07
Power outages are quite common in third world countries
Scattered outages in the US capital on Tuesday cut power to several government buildings, including the White House, State Department, Capitol and Justice Department.

The State Department's daily news briefing was suspended after power was lost. A department announcement said the main building and other nearby buildings were affected because electricity feeders were down.
Sending everyone home for the day undoubtedly saved us millions.

#16  Power should really be decentralized. Big nets are a bad idea.

#15  Doubt it OS.

Unless there are bribes.

Then they will be all over it.

But I suspect the bribes are going the other way....

#14  I wonder if they will pay attention to power system vulnerabilities now? Especially hardening the systems against major risks from EMP man-made and natural, as well as cyber warfare (the aforementioned SCADA)

So did the 'explosion' really go bang, or was the outage the result of a SCADA hack?

#12  I hope Putin or Mossad release ALL of Tyrant Obama's dirty laundry. And Hildabeasts while their at it.

Obama's proper place is a crow's cage on the White House lawn, so citizens can come jeer and throw rotten arugala or whatever the hell it is at him.

#11  In addition, Drudge, Hot Air, and a few others are reporting the Russians hacked the White House. No wonder Putin is laughing his ass off.

#9  Let me get this straight. The White House and the state department have no standby power? Really?

#8  According to Aruzt Sheva:

Officials say that the power outtage which partially shut down Washington, DC, today (Tuesday) was caused by an explosion in a Maryland power plant. The cut even affected the White House and State Department.

#5  Heck, just turn off the A/C. That would save TONS of CO2.

Of course, DC isn't really habitable in the summer without A/C.

#4  Hopefully the golf carts at Andrews AFB were fully charged up.

#3  I say, to help combat the dreaded "Climate Change" we need to have Washington lead by example. Keep the power off 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Gotta keep that carbon footprint down chums.

#2  Pssssssst.....standby generators would help but carbon footprint bad. Mums the word
