United Nations Warns the Situation in Yemen Continues to Deteriorate |
2015-04-11 |
[VOA News] The United Nations ...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly... is calling for an immediate humanitarian pause to allow more life-saving aid to be brought into Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... by air and sea. Johannes Van Der Klaauw, U.N. humanitarian coordinator for Yemen, says basic services are collapsing and people are facing a crisis of unprecedented proportions as The world deliberative body says millions of people are at risk of physical injury or death because of the fighting and the lack of basic services, including health care, safe water and food. The World Health Organization reports 648 people have been killed and 2,191 maimed. The WHO also warned of measles, meningitis and typhoid outbreaks. |

#8 I think the UN has deteriorated from clueless to delusional on Yemen. On a scale of 1 to 10 on the deteriorating situation scale, Yemen was at an 11 in February and is not streaking toward a 15. Hello UN, the situation cannot get any worse, except maybe a tidal wave, typhoon, earthquake or ELE level meteor strike. |

#4 And Famine is making it's move! At the quarter-mile post it's Famine by a nose powering past Uncle Malthus' BBQ and heading home with a great bloody steak. At the wire it's Famine followed by Mysterious Hacking and Silly Stupidities. |

#3 The bleeding obvious. I've read. Yemen imports 90% of its food staple, wheat. The 3rd horseman is on its way. |
