| Train runs 26kms back sans driver |

| [PRIMENEWS.BD] Rajbari : Evoking both horror and surprise among the passengers on board, an inter-district train ran back up to a 26 kilometre stretch on the Rajbari-Kushtia route, as its driver got down at Rajbari railway station for a shot while, oblivious of its engine running. Rajbari railway station master Kamruzzaman said the incident happened right after the moment the driver got down at the station from the Faridpur-bound train for taking tea with its engine running at 8.05am. Without anyone holding the steering, the train continued running on its own and moved back around 26 kilometers crossing four stations-Sujanagar, Belgachhi, Kalukhali and Pangsha-- in between up to Babupara bridge. Thrilled and feared, the passengers on all the six compartments of the train remained shrilling finding themselves in the long journey back, unable to know the exact reason. At last the train came to a halt in Babupara bridge area at about 8.55am, when TT Anwar Hossain pulled off the chain. However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... none was injured in the incident, following which the train driver, Mohammad Ali, and guard Suvash Chandra Sorma were suspended. The authorities have formed a five-member probe committee to investigate the incident. |
