Nine PML-N activists injured in 'PTI' firing |

[DAWN] LAHORE: Nine activists of the PML-N were maimed when a group of PTI supporters opened fire in Walton Cantonment Board Ward No 3, police said on Saturday. PML-N activists had staged a rally to celebrate the win of their candidate in the local body elections. As the jubilant workers reached near the house of Basharat, a relative of the victorious candidate Munir, some PTI supporters started exchanging harsh words with them, which turned into a brawl. Meanwhile, ...back at the abandoned silver mine, there was another kaboom... some PTI workers took out their weapons and started firing, injuring Ahmed, Adnan, Kaka Pehlwan, Ali Nawaz, Shaukat, Rehmat Boota, Muhammad Husain and Arshad of the PML-N. The injured were taken to General Hospital where their condition was stated to be serious. Police rushed to the spot and nabbed Aslam, Tanveer, Iqbal, Akbar and others, said DIG Dr Haider Ashraf. The chief election commissioner has taken notice of firing in Rawalpindi and Lahore and directed the authorities responsible for security to submit a report immediately. |
