2015-05-01 |
[ARA] On Thursday, Salafist tough guys of Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... in Syria seized a crossing in Quneitra province near the Israeli border. Ahrar al-Sham took over the crossing of al-Qahtaniya after three days of fierce festivities with another Islamist group known as Army of Jihad --which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (IS/ISIS). Haitham Nassar, a media activist accompanying Ahrar al-Sham in Quneitra, told ARA News that dozens were killed on both sides during the festivities. According to military sources, the crossing of al-Qahtaniya is considered a strategic one for its proximity to Golan Heights. Ahrar al-Sham has played a role in the rebels operation in Idlib that resulted in the control of the city after forcing Assad army to withdraw. |
