2015-05-02
Damascus, Syria – At least eight members of the pro-regime security forces were reportedly killed on Friday during clashes with rebel fighters of the al-Rahman Corps battalion in the eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus, southern Syria.

Speaking to ARA News, civil rights activist Ahmed Sabbagh, from the city of Damascus, said that fierce clashes broke out between the two parties in the orchards located between the towns of Maliha and Jisrain, during which eight members of the pro-Assad forces were killed, while no casualties were reported in the ranks of the rebels.

Also on Friday, the pro-Assad warplanes carried out several raids on the city of Harasta and the town of Zamalka town in the Damascus suburbs, coinciding with a similar attack on the outskirts of the southern highway near the neighborhoods of Jobar and Zamalka, without reporting injuries.

In Daraa, civil rights activist Haitham Nassar told ARA News that the rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) targeted the regime-held security branch in the city of Daraa with rockets, causing the explosion of munitions depots.
