2015-05-04
FYI - they started shooting. Local PD shot back. 2 dead terrs. 1 officer wounded expected to recover. Good shooting there Texas!
Just goes to show: even at a Texas art event, you're out-gunned...
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) ‐ Two suspects opened fire outside the Curtis Caldwell Center during a Muhammad art exhibit in Garland. CBS 11 was there to report on the exhibit before the chaos ensued. Reporter Gabriel Roxas and CBS 11 camera team were placed in lockdown immediately after the gunfire. The Garland event, called the "First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest," took place where the "Stand with the Prophet" conference was held in January. The event featured adaptations of the Islamic prophet.

7:45pm CT: Officers tell Gabriel Roxas that two suspects were shot dead. Pamela Geller, an organizer of the event, spoke to to CBS 11 from lockdown via phone at 7:45p CT. In addition to echoing our ground team, she told a news producer, "I heard officers talking of possible explosions in backpacks and the car."
8:11pm CT: Joe Harn of the Garland Police Department tells CBS 11 two men pulled up in vehicle on the roadway in front of the center and began firing at a Garland ISD security guard. Garland Police returned fire and killed both suspects.

9:00pm CT: Security guard Bruce Joiner released from hospital.
Hurry dimit! I've got to get back to the attack !
9:12pm CT: No press conference until authorities have cleared the suspects' vehicle.
9:29pm CT: Muslim Response to Dallas Shooting. Harris Zafar, Vice President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association told CBS 11 via email: "People need to hear a strong Muslim voice condemning this insanity."
9:29pm CT: Suspects' bodies still at the scene.
Courtesy of Ebbomosh Hupemp2664, Breitbart adds:
Officers on the scene said that it is possible that explosives are in the area.

Attendees were immediately forced into lockdown by police, including three Breitbart News reporters. Sources say event organizer Pamela Geller and keynote speaker Geert Wilders, a Dutch politician, are safe. Breitbart Texas was conducting a live video interview with Geller at the moment of the attack.
Busy woman, that Pamela Geller. It was only Saturday when her event in Copenhagen was shot at.

#7  As per #5, shows once again its not for the Hard Boyz to change or give up Global Jihad, etc. or for Islam to self-modernize, but for the US-West = Non-Muslim World to surrender + make concessions to Islam.

#6  He has non-life threatening injuries after being shot once in the leg.

Typical Muslim "extremist" spray-n-pray tactics.

#5  Obama will try to shut down future cartoon events. Many local governments will disallow such events. But in fact we need more Mohammed cartoons and more satire of this death cult. It needs to keep coming until the barbarians are desensitized to it. Only after desensitization they can begin to think for themselves and then we can engage them in free, fair and robust exchange of ideas about the best way to get to heaven. That which cannot be questioned needs to be questioned more than anything else. Free speech needs to exercised, not suppressed, even if swat teams have to provide security otherwise we have no freedom. If there is no freedom there can be no peace. Excellent work, Garland Police.

#3  This is how society is supposed to work. Civilians going about their lives, enjoying freedom of speech.

Violent religious thugs turn up and try to kill people. Vaporised by police.

Everyone goes back to normal.

BRAVO Texas Police.

BRAVO

At first I wondered if there'd be screams of "islamophobia" but i'm betting there won't be. Those are reserved for when the Islamonutz win and there is a sense of injustice to be stolen or neutered.

There is no sense of injustice today just glee mixed with schadenfraude. The joy I get from the bold expression of freedom by drawing cartoons is only increased by the joy I get from seeing the would-be murderers dispatched without accomplishing their mission.

#2  I like Vodkapundit's take on this:

We’ve probably all entertained notions of how much damage a group like ISIS could do to this country’s psyche with just a few teams of gunmen at shopping malls or the schoolyards.

But they made a mistake, didn’t they, trying to shoot Americans who were on alert. An event like that in a place like Texas — that ain’t Charlie Hebdo, as ISIS just found out yesterday.
