The secular government is taking action after recognizing a rise of Islam, which it claims threatens to form jihadist militancy. Apparently, Rahmon has seen the effects of 1,400 years of Islam and how it has never progressed past the 7th century blood lust of Muhammad.
The name ban isn't the only change that has hit the Muslim community, however. Tajikistan's government has outlawed beards and hijabs, as well as closing independent mosques.
