Accused Garland conspirator had plan to attack Super Bowl: prosecutors
2015-06-18
[NYDAILYNEWS] An alleged conspirator in the shootout at an anti-Islamic event in Garland, Texas last month wanted to attack this year's Super Bowl game, prosecutors say.
"Hey, guys! Let's do somethin' really stoopid for the Greater Glory of Allan!"
"Good idea! Like what?"
"Let's attack the Superbowl!"
"WE HEARD THAT! THIS IS THE FBI! COME OUT WITCHER HANDS UP!"
"YOUSE GOT NUTTIN' ON US, COPPERS! NUTTIN'!"
"Where'd you get that bullhorn?"
"WHY NOT?"
"HOW WE GONNA GET TICKETS TO THE SUPERBOWL?"
"WELLL... Somebody goes..."
"WHO DO YOU KNOW THAT EVER WENT?"
"J. Edgar Hoover?"
"HE DID NOT! HE'S DEAD!"
"Never mind."
"THIS IS THE BALTIMORE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE! COME OUT WITCHER HANDS UP!"

Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem, 43, expressed interest in joining Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and desired to strike on Super Bowl XLIX at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., said FBI special agent Dina McCarthy on the witness stand at Kareem's first court appearance Tuesday.

Kareem faces charges of conspiracy, making false statements and interstate transportation of firearms with intent to commit a felony, and he's accused of providing advice and guns to the would-be faceless myrmidons in the foiled May 3 raid on the "Draw Muhammad" contest.

The FBI agent didn't go into specifics about how close Kareem really got to executing any plots on the country's largest sporting event, but prosecutors hope to use her testimony to build the case against Kareem.

"This is an individual who is apt to incite violence," prosecutor Kristen Brook said. "This defendant, based on all these facts, is dangerous, he is off-the-charts dangerous."
NBC has more details about the hospitable habitual criminal:
An indictment filed in federal court in Phoenix last week says that 43-year-old Abdul Kareem hosted the gunnies in his home beginning in January and provided the guns they used in the May 3 shooting in Garland, Texas. The indictment also says others were involved, but no other arrests or indictments have been made.

Abdul Kareem practiced shooting with Simpson, Soofi and others in the remote desert outside Phoenix between January and May, the indictment said. He hosted the gunnies and others in his home to discuss the contest and the shooters' plans to travel to Texas to attack the event, according to the indictment.

Court records in Phoenix show Abdul Kareem had a criminal record, struggled with substance abuse and had difficulty finding steady employment.

He was born and raised in Philadelphia as Decarus Lowell Thomas and changed his name to Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem in 2013.

Kareem attended the same Phoenix mosque where Soofi and Simpson occasionally prayed.
And An Nahar points out that Mr. Thomas Kareem is a known wolf:
FBI special agent Dina McCarthy said a 2012 investigation into Kareem determined he had a terrorism training document on his computer and an al-Qaida magazine on a flash drive.
