Nigerian Muslim group aims to help Boko Haram victims
2015-06-22
[AA.TR] Nigeria's Moslem Public Affairs Center (MPAC) has launched a campaign to help victims of Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
activities in the country's northeastern region.

"We are mobilizing emergency aid and support for some of the 1.53 million internally displaced persons in Nigeria," Disu Kamor, executive director of MPAC, told Anadolu Agency.

Kamor said the group's actions represented Moslems' intervention in the plight of the displaced persons.

"Although Boko Haram are people preaching hate and violent ideology that has no place in Islam, some of the non-Moslems who have suffered untold hardships at their hands are given the misconceived belief that Boko Haram are Moslems who are promoting an Islamic cause and pursuing an Islamic agenda," he said.

"The purpose of this intervention campaign in the IDPs camps is therefore to bring relief to all the victims and to win hearts and minds," he added.

"MPAC is very proud that many Moslems, who utilize the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan to share their own blessings with others, will aid this campaign and facilitate its objectives," he stated.

Nigeria is plagued by a violent insurgency in the northeast that has endured six years, with tens of thousands killed and millions displaced.

MPAC describes itself as "an incorporated public service agency working for Moslem Defence, Moslem Empowerment and for promoting individual liberties, religious, civil and political rights of Moslems."
