Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. In a presidential decree issued from Riyadh, Hadi appointed Nayef al-Bakri, a former deputy governor of the province, to the post of governor, according to Yemen's official news agency.

Al-Bakri had been one of the government officials who did not flee Aden when it was overrun by Houthi turbans earlier this year.

On Friday, Khaled Bahah, Yemen's vice-president and prime minister, declared that Aden had been "liberated" from the Houthis and allied forces loyal to ousted President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
