| Taliban publicly execute tribal elder in Urozgan |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] A tribal elder has been publicly executed by Talibs after being kidnapped in southern Urozgan province. Abdul Karim Karimi, the governor of Khas Urozgan province says that Taliban kidnapped the tribal elder and Malik of Shaheedan area earlier in the morning and later hanged him to death in public. Taliban front man had not commented on the execution of Haji Abas by the time this report was filed. Haji Abas was also member of the council of Khas Urozgan District. This is second incident of Taliban execution this month. The group's fighters executed Imam of a local mosque after he spoke out against insurgency during his Friday sermon in Faryab province on July 16. |
