Austrian court jails Chechen for joining jihadis in Syria

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....

The 30-year-old Chechen, identified as Magomed Z., was convicted of participating in terrorism and possessing child pornography but acquitted of receiving combat training in Syria. He had faced up to 10 years in prison on the terrorism charge alone.
Do we suspect Mr. Z. of quietly assisting the authorities in other inquiries?
The Chechen had pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
 to all charges, saying he had gone to Syria only to help refugees and to search for the son of a relative.
Or perhaps not.
Both the prosecutors and Magomed Z. will appeal the sentence, a front man for the court in the Austrian town of Krems said.

#1  This sort of thing is what happens when you have effectively unchecked immigration. What business does a Chechen named Magomed have in Austria? Is he learning to waltz?
