| Suicide bomber kills at least 10 in northern Cameroon | |

| [WASHINGTONPOST] A jacket wallah attacked a popular night spot in northern Cameroon ...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there... on Saturday evening, killing at least 10 people only days after Islamic gunnies were blamed for another attack on the town that left at least 20 dead, the governor said. Midjiyawa Bakari, governor of the far northern region of Cameroon, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the attacker detonated the explosives in the popular Pont Vert neighborhood in Maroua. "We are still counting the dead and maimed," Bakari said by phone Saturday night. While there was no immediate claim of responsibility, Islamic gunnies from the Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... group have been blamed for scores of attacks in the region this year.
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe? said Sunday, just days after 13 died in twin bombings in the city blamed on Boko Haram. The bomber blew herself up among Saturday night revellers in the popular bar, injuring at least 79 others, state TV reported. An earlier toll put the number of dead at 14. " A girl of around 12 blew herself up between two takeaway sales points. Security forces have sealed off the area and have made several arrests," the state TV channel said. | |
