The quake struck at a depth of 27 kilometers (17 miles), with its epicenter located 82 kilometers south west of Khuzdar district in Balochistan province, where people felt the shockwave.

Local meteorologists measured the quake at 5.5 magnitude with a depth of just 10 kilometers, and 70 kilometers from Khuzdar.

"The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded 5.5 and its depth was 10 kilometers," Muhammad Shafique, a meteorologist at Pakistain's met office, told AFP.

Administration officials said there were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property.
