| Soldier loses life while defusing landmine to save others in Herat |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] A soldier from Afghan National Army has embraced martyrdom in the kaboom of a landmine he was defusing to save others in western Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province. The incident took place in 'Borya Baf' area of Pashton Zarghon District today. A security official who did not want to be named said that the kaboom also left two other soldiers from the Afghan National Army maimed. Initial investigation reveals that the landmine exploded with a remote control from a larger distance. Talibs plant landmines on public transportation ways that not only cause casualties to security forces but also to civilians. Four civilians including three women and a man lost lives to a landmine kaboom in Ghazni province today. They were driving in a Rickshaw that ran over a landmine in Andar District of Ghazni province. |
