2015-08-07
[LAHT] A gang looted at least two food trucks in North-western Venezuela's Sinamaica and set fire to the municipal headquarters of the region, local media reported Wednesday.

Zulia state government official, Billy Gasca, confirmed the incident on his Twitter account adding the matter was being investigated.

According to the Panorama newspaper, the municipal spokesperson said five offices were affected in the incident.

El Nacional newspaper reported, the robbery of the trucks came as a protest "against food scarcity and rationing" in the region as people lived in "deplorable conditions, going without electricity supply or internet connection for several days."

The portal Últimas Noticias quoted anonymous sources from the municipal offices, who said the attack began Tuesday night when the attackers entered the municipal building and set the place on fire, after robbing computers and electrical goods.

The government is yet to officially comment on the incident that follow other similar incidents in other parts of the country and has renewed debate around the economic crisis in the country.

Maybe some sugar, the loan of the Cubana Presidential jet on occasion and a few kind words, not much else.

#7  Venezuela now imports coffee, Harina P.A.N., gasoline and light oil. The last to dilute their semi-heavy stuff.

#6  I don't think Columbia has to worry ed, they have a real army, that's been practicing for couple of decades getting the kinks and corruption out. However, given the obvious stupidity exhibited by Caracas, they might be given a work out. Long past the time for Bogota to pay the commies back for giving FARC sanctuaries and provide a haven for opposition groups.
