| #3 If the Koran out of which the Afghan tore pages was not his, as I suspect is the case, then he was destroying another's property rather than merely exercising his rights. And he then thoroughly deserved any and all thumping that came his way as a result. |

| #2 It bears repeating that these people were rioting because they were thwarted in their attempt to murder a person who had done nothing more than exercise basic human and civil rights. This is genuine evil. German politicians' reaction to this was strangely neutral. Most didn't comment on this. The interior minister issued a lackluster formal condemnation. The communist state PM called the defacement of a Koran intolerable and voiced understanding for the rioters, stopping short of giving them outright support. |
