Pope: 'Terrorists' could sneak into Europe with refugees
2015-09-15
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pope Francis has warned against the risk that holy warriors could slip into Europe under cover of a huge wave of refugees fleeing war in Syria but also said the migrant crisis could help reawaken the continent's conscience.

In an interview published on Monday with the Portuguese Catholic broadcaster Radio Renascenca, the pope referred to the risk that Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which has killed Christians and other minorities in the Middle East, could launch attacks in Europe.

"It's true, I also want to recognize that, nowadays, territorial security conditions are not the same as they were in other periods (of mass migration)," he said in the interview.

"The truth is that just 400 kilometers (250 miles) from Sicily there is an incredibly cruel terrorist group. So there is a danger of infiltration, this is true."

But I am a religious Jew of the freethinking variety, anon1, and I do not cleave to the Islamofascists or any other who would force all to follow their form of belief, including atheists. I venture to say that, whatever the personal belief of Rantburgers, including those who are atheists, none would force anyone else to follow their own beliefs. So your claim that

when it comes to the crunch the religious all stick together to oppose secular law

fails on the evidence of this website.

That secular Muslims are the enemy of jihadis both soft and hard is indeed true. But that was not your original claim.

#14  here are the religious all joining hands to *support each other in times of difficulty* (right after Islamists murdered unarmed civilians yet again in martin place, sydney)

perpetuating the myth that *they arent real muslims* committing these murders

they are real muslims

they are theocratic muslims

and their natural and most effective enemy is secular muslims

who put the idea of religion into the private realm of worship and out of the public sphere where it does not belong.

Thank goodness the founding fathers of the US acknowledged this and built the wall of separation between religion and state into the very constitution.

If we can help the secular muslims beat the theocrats, the problem we face will go away.

the pope can only rally catholics. The secular muslims can take away the muslim power base of the theocrats

#13  pappy - you are right the Islamofascists want the caliphate over the entire world.

But that does not make the pope their *worst* enemy - only a standard enemy the same as anyone else.

It is the secular muslims like Taj Hargey who are the *worst* enemy because they appeal to the potential followers of IS and turn them against them.

the other religious cannot do that.

#12  wrong, trailing wife

the most dangerous threat to a theocratic muslim is not a crusader or a pope but a secular muslim

Dr Taj Hargey is a bigger threat to Islamofasists than the pope is.

He is an imam, a koranic fundamentalists who rejects sharia on the grounds that it came from the hadith and is thus not the word of god.

he started a gay-friendly mosque in South Africa - fire bombed three times

He spoke out loudly against the revenue-raiser Halal Certification that funds mosques from your groceries - giving opponents the necessary shield to oppose this outrageous impost without being called *racist* or *islamophobic*

he also encourages women to lead prayers, in defiance of sharia second-class status

Secular muslims like Taj Hargey are the biggest threat to islamofascism

Religious figures like the Pope, when pushed, will walk together with Islamist religious leaders, against the secular.

They have no interest in limiting the power of religion - only in making sure their share of it is the biggest.

secularists want to limit the realm of the religious to the private sphere, kicking them out of politics and economics where they dont belong.

Being a priest or imam gives you the right to talk about your faith with other believers. It doesnt give you the right to draft laws or interfere with world trade.

#11  Good question. He said they are taking in two families (average 4 per family). Not bad for a town with a population of 451. That is one for every 54 people in the Vatican.

Contrast that to the US on one refugee for every 31,800 people.

Or to generous Germany, one refugee for every 100 people.

The Vatican seems to be doing their part and backing up what they ask of others, but that's not likely what you wanted to hear.

And in other news, the Catholic Church continues to be the largest charitable organization in the history of the world, but then again, that's not likely what you wanted to hear either.

#9  Ditto CC. I doubt copulation has significantly declined over the past half-century. Modern chemistry and 'big pharma' have enabled personal pleasure and selfish convenience to trump replenishment of the species. I'm not certain if this is a Darwinian outcome, punishment from some higher order, or both. Whatever the cause, your 'open spaces' theory certainly applies.

#8  Sounds like he nailed it to me.

Pope Francis:

“The migrant phenomenon is a reality…when there is an empty space, people look to fill it. If a country doesn't have children, migrants come to occupy that place,”

He referred to the staggeringly low number of births in countries such as Italy, Portugal and Spain, where the current number of births falls, he said, at “almost zero percent.”

Francis said he is no stranger to the phenomenon of not wanting to have children, and that he encountered it in his own family when some years ago his Italian cousins said they preferred to travel or buy property rather than have children.

“So, if there are no children, there are open spaces,” he said. For him personally, the societal refusal to have children is part of a “culture of ‘well-being,’” in which the assurance that one’s personal needs and wants will be taken care of is emphasized to an exaggerated degree.

#7  Didn't he (Francis) just not too long ago call for Europeans to welcome the horde with open arms, letting them live in their very homes?

Then I guess the Islamic State's promise to "hoist the black flag over Rome" is just blather?

Seems having an atheist religious "expert" is like having a vegan reviewing barbeque restaurants.

Bullshit. Absolutely unadulterated, stinking to high heaven bullshit, anon1. And by saying it you insult the majority of Rantburgers with that lie.
