| Germany, Austria, Slovakia Urge EU Refugee Summit |

| [ALMANAR.LB] Germany, Austria and Slovakia on Tuesday called for a special European summit next week on the migrant crisis, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel ...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom... warning that "time is running out". "Good intentions, meet real life." Merkel said she and Austrian counterpart Werner Faymann had proposed the extraordinary meeting in a phone call with EU president Donald Tusk. "It is a problem for the entire European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and therefore we argued for a special EU summit to be held next week," she said at a joint presser with Faymann, adding that "Donald Tusk will look into that". "Time is running out, we cannot wait until mid-October," when the next regular EU summit is scheduled, she said. |
