1,000 more police approved for Nangarhar |

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Ministry of Interior has approved 1,000 more police for eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province. General Ali Shah Ahmadzai, head of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) department at the Ministry of Interior says that the purpose of this addition is to assist with security. A statement released by the media office of Nangarhar province states that General Ahmadzai told Governor Saleem Khan Kundozi in a meeting that these police would be deployed to restive districts. Looking at General Ahmadzai's statement, these soldiers would likely go to Achin, Chaparhar, Kot, Bati Kot, Ghanikhel, Dih Bala, Khogyani, Nazyan and a few other districts which are witnessing the most insecurity since the last few months. Security deteriorated in these districts after Daesh emerged there months before. Members of the group who now link themselves with IS were previously fighting for Afghani and Pak Taliban groups. Besides fighting government forces, the group has announced war with Taliban after they rejected allegiance with IS. Deadly festivities have erupted between the two sides in parts of the country, most of them in Nangarhar province, leaving dozens of Death Eaters killed. |
