[Bangkok Post] Two Thai border patrol policemen were slain during an ambush by militants on the bank of the Sungai Kolok River in Narathiwat province late Wednesday morning. The attack occurred when the pair were traveling on a motorcycle to gather information on insurgent movements after the Muslim festival Hari Raya Aidiladha.In Tak Bai district, on a road beside the river, armed men hiding in roadside forest opened fire at them. Their motorcycle slid to the side of the road and the two policemen fell onto coils of barbed wire. The militants emerged from hiding and continued shooting, killing them both.
