[Iran Press TV] Afghan special forces have recaptured the major northern city of Kunduz from the Taliban militants, after the strategic provincial capital fell into the hands of the extremist group on Monday, the country’s Interior Ministry says.

#1 1. Holding it is another matter. 2. And speaking of holding, the Talibs likely took Kunduz more as a "look what we can do" move. The question is whether it was intended for: a. The world audience as a display of Talib prowess, b. Other jihad organizations, for the same reason, c. The Afghan government as a display of Pakistani retribution, d. Internal consumption for the division-ridden Taliban. |
