Unidentified military jets have carried out airstrikes targeted an Al shabaab base located near Kismayo city, capital of Jubbaland state, causing casualties, military officer said on Monday.
Col Mohamud Qalib, a senior Jubbaland army commander has told Radio Shabelle that the aerial bombardment has left several Al shabaab fighters wounded after a missile hit their camp at Qalqala area. He said that the Al shabaab militants wounded in the air raid have been taken to a hospital in Jilib town, the biggest Al shabaab stronghold in middle Jubba region of southern Somalia.
Kenyan defense forces spokesman said Sunday that they killed 15 Al shabaab fighters in an attack occurred at Yoontooy area, 18Kms north of Kismayo city and destroyed two boats. |
