| Police officer injured in Egypt's Sharqiya in drive-by shooting |

| [AlAhram] 29-year-old police officer was injured late Sunday in Nile Delta's Sharqiya governorate when unknown assailants shot him in the shoulder and then fled, Ahram Arabic website reported. The officer, Amir Samir, was shot on his way back home and was transferred to the hospital. Investigations by the prosecution are ongoing. A similar incident in Sharqiya occurred in August, where three attackers on a cycle of violence killed a policeman. At least 20 security forces personnel have been killed in similar attacks since 2013 in Sharqiya, Morsi's birthplace. The latest such attack in Egypt occurred Saturday night when unknown assailants shot a policeman dead in Beni Suef. |
