Rebels, Ukrainians exchange fire

Ukrainian forces are moving heavy weapons back into the line of contact, and have shelled some locations near Donetsk city, according to Russian language news account.

Ukrainian media says that rebel forces are hitting their troops' locations with heavy weapons as well.

According to data supplied by the Donetsk ministry of defense, on Friday Ukrainian forces hit rebel positions in parts of northern Donetsk including at the village of Zhabunki and at the Volvo Center in western Donetsk city using 82mm mortars.

On Sunday, Ukrainian forces hit rebel positions for more than 20 minutes in western Donetsk city including in Spartak, Peski, and the Kuibyshevsky and the Kirovsky districts. Weapons used included 82mm and 120mm mortars.

One unidentified civilian was reported wounded in the attack in western Donetsk city.

Ukrainian media said Sunday that rebel forces attacked the town of Peski on Friday killing two Ukrainian soldiers, according to data supplied by korrespondent.net.

According to tsensor.net, rebel forces hit Ukrainian positions in Peski Sunday using mortars, heavy machine gun fire and RPG fire.

Banned Weapons moving back

Rebel officials in Donetsk say the Ukrainian military are moving weapons back to the line of contact, according to information supplied on the Donetsk Ministry of Defense on Friday.

A total of 25 tanks have moved into the Mariupol defense zone, plus another 10 artillery pieces. Among the units moved into the area are the BM-21 rocket artillery platform. All weapons above 100mm should have been removed to a safe distance from the line of contact.

On Saturday, Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said that a total of 50 vehicles including tanks, self propelled artillery platforms and infantry fighting vehicles have been moved into the Gorlovka area of the line of contact.

Included in that count are 12 BM-21 rocket artillery platforms.
