UK hints Russia plane brought down by bomb
2015-11-05
Follow-on from yesterday's late report. At some point we'll get a more complete report from a news agency.
Britain said on Wednesday it was concerned the Russian airliner that crashed last Saturday in Sinai may have been brought down by a bomb, prompting it to temporarily suspend flights from Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh.

"While the investigation is still ongoing we cannot say categorically why the Russian jet crashed. But as more information has come to light, we have become concerned that the plane may well have been brought down by an explosive device," the office of Prime Minister David Cameron said.
Pending receipt of forensic data, played back the pre-event Special Intelligence collection and bounced that against post-event. Just a guess.
An Egyptian source close to the black box investigation also said "the cause of the crash looks more like an explosion but it not clear whether it was linked to fuel or a bomb".
I believe the Brits were the first to announce. Of course they still maintain a constructive intelligence sharing protocol with Egypt and Israel, which might have been helpful.

#9  Why UK?

It's a habitual and usually incoherent troll from the Pacific Northwest area. Normally he gets deleted.

#8  The United Kingdom and Israel have more to gain by blowing up two Russian planes.

That would be an act of war. No, not even 0bama is dumb enough to do that.

Unolumble,
Don't want to admit to Islamic terrorist?

If there was a bomb there will be residue. Residue will lead to sources. The world is not so big. In fact, the meter is already running.

Why UK?

#6  "Intercepted communications played a role in the tentative conclusion that the Islamic State group’s Sinai affiliate planted an explosive device on the Russian plane, according to a US official being quoted by the Associated Press."

Discussion prior to the explosion. They know more than they are saying. They need to protect means and sources.

Russian plane crash in Egypt may have been result of bomb, US and UK say - as it happened

White boarding: Gather a cell of [all source] analysts/thinkers and a senior facilitator, butcher paper potential Courses of Action (COA) or scenarios on the walls, and start rank ordering and cell voting based on available data and intelligence inputs. No COA too obvious, none too junior or senior, none too bizarre or out-of-the-box.

Continue this effort across shifts for a couple of days and you will be surprised what conclusions and supporting data surface.

Actually, come to think of it, not too much unlike the Burg.

#2  The Latest: Official says Sharm el-Sheikh airport chief has been replaced after plane crash

Looking more and more like airport security was breached.

#1  US Intelligence is also leaning towards a bomb. That says that somebody on the inside had to plant that bomb. The gate workers, airplane cleaners, caterers, luggage handlers, and mechanics are the likely suspects.
