Putin: G20 nations among 40 countries financing ISIS
2015-11-17
IN Which Vladimir Putin tosses the cat among the pigeons. This is the meeting in Istanbul in preparation for which Turkey has been so assiduously hunting down ISIS jihadis.
[Rudaw] Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
said Monday that 40 countries around the world are financing the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (ISIS), including some that are part of the G20.
What odds one of the quietly accused is our own US of A?
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the G20 summit in the Turkish tourist city of Antalya, Putin said he had provided proof of his claims to leaders at the meeting.

"I provided examples based on our data on the financing of different Islamic State units by private individuals. This money, as we have established, comes from 40 countries and, there are some of the G20 members among them," he said.

Putin warned world leaders that the illegal oil trade with ISIS should be halted.

"I have shown our colleagues photos taken from space and from aircraft which clearly demonstrate the scale of the illegal trade in oil and petroleum products," Putin added.

"The motorcade of refueling vehicles stretched for dozens of kilometers, so that from a height of 4,000 to 5,000 meters they stretch beyond the horizon," he disclosed.
Heading toward Turkey, are they?
Putin ruled out competition among countries over which was seen to be doing more or less against ISIS. "A united international effort is needed against the terrorist group," he urged.
A statesmanlike approach...
Putin explained that Russia is helping the Syrian opposition in its fight against ISIS.

"Some armed opposition groups consider it possible to begin active operations against IS with Russia's support. And we are ready to provide such support from the air. If it happens it could become a good basis for the subsequent work on a political settlement," he said.
"Let's you and him fight. We'll help."
He urged that other countries, including the United States and Mideast nations, should get behind the effort.

We really need support from the US, European nations, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, Iran," the Russian president added.

The two-day summit in Antalya brought leaders of the world's most powerful countries to meet on the recent world issues, especially to agree on a plan to defeat ISIS in retaliation for last week's deadly Gay Paree attacks.

He's right and I dare say that in the next few days I bet the Russian Air Force has a big red bull's eye painted on that road he was talking about...

He did pretty well say they've parked their version of a K-bird over Syria taking lots and lots of interesting pictures.

#2  I wonder if Vlad, occasionally, feels like a school teacher tasked with teaching calculus to special children?

#1  Well whoever drops the first bomb on one of those oil convoys will definitely be taken off the list of usual suspects.

You don't suppose Vlad was talking about most of the EU do you?
