#13  She's a San Diego Atty. I apologize to history/humanity, even though I'm not her

#12  Exactly right, EC. However, a lawyer can withdraw from representation if the scumbag is just too evil. Clarke probably does it because she enjoys the limelight, and perhaps gets a thrill from privileged personal access to all of these Hannibal Lechters.

#11  I think that in this case, there was almost no doubt that Tsarnaev was guilty. What she is trying to do is to minimize his sentence from death to something less. Like maybe time served or something. After all, he did lose his brother.

#10  Over in the States, lawyers are officers of the court. While they represent the accused, they are also responsible to uphold the law. Thus, if the lawyer knows that the law is being broken, they have a duty to the court to report it as such. Thus the old movie meme "Don't tell me. I don't want to know". Unfortunately, when they do know and don't act, they themselves become accessories to the fact. If they discover culpable information about their client, they may asked to be recused and lawyer-client privilege kicks in. See - Lynne Stewart.

#9  Sorry, but no. It's the duty of a lawyer - any lawyer - to defend his client, no matter how evil the scumbag is. And no, I'm not a lawyer.

#8  Seems a tad hypocritical to me. I deliberately murdered a bunch of you, but it would be wrong to murder me? Bah, O Brave Lion of Islam.

#7  I once worked for a lawyer who was also an M.D., tw. He had me keep on the lookout for both lawyer and doctor jokes. When he spoke to a group of lawyers, he used doctor jokes, and vice-versa. Great guy. :-D

#6  We have a number of lawyers here at Rantburg, and they're all wonderful people as well as clever legal minds.

#5  Come on, there are good lawyers. Even a few live ones.

#4  Judy Clarke is chief of the Tsarnaev legal team.

She has represented Ted Kaczynski and Susan Smith (women who drowned her kids in a lake). Also has represented a dozen other scummy types.

The Tsarnaev death sentence was definitely a loss for her.

#2  I like it!

Trot them and their lawyers out. Declare them all guilty again then hang them all.

Nice and neat.

#1  As mentioned in the comments. This is all about his lawyers working to keep those billable hours rolling.

Luckily we don't have to worry about 'speedbump'.
