After Unlocking iPhone On Its Own, Government Drops Effort To Compel Apple's Help |

![]() This morning, the Department of Justice filed a status report [PDF] with the U.S. District Court that had first ordered Apple to assist the FBI, disclosing that the agency’s efforts to unlock the iPhone belonging to Syed Farook had been fruitful. US gets info, Apple maintains market share. Win/win, right? |

#5 Nguard has the truth of it. FBI has been lying from the start. This was all about using a terrorism case to get a court to force Apple to do the FBI's work for them. With that precedent set, 'law enforcement' would have routinely used it to get phones unlocked in child support and parking ticket cases. When the case started going against them, the FBI ran like frightened girls. |
