(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Monday, that a group of gunmen killed a merchant in western Baghdad, and stole 120 thousand dollars.

The source said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, unidentified gunmen driving a modern vehicle shot a vehicle belonging to the owner of an electrical devices company while passing in the Police Tunnel area in western Baghdad, killing him on the spot,” pointing out that, “The gunmen stole 120 thousand dollars that were inside the vehicle before fleeing to an unknown destination.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added, “A security force rushed to the area and transferred the dead body to the forensic medicine department, while opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and who stands behind it.”

1 dead in bomb attack on market

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior announced on Monday, that eight people had been either killed or wounded in a bomb blast in western Baghdad.

The source said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “This evening, an explosive device exploded near a popular market in Euphrates neighborhood in western Baghdad, killing one person and injuring seven others.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “Ambulances rushed to the area and transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead body to the forensic medicine department, while cordoned off the area and prevented approaching it.”

Iraqi kops on alert in Baghdad

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – An informed security source stated on Monday, that the security forces have declared maximum alert in the capital Baghdad, after the followers of the Sadrist Movement besieged the Ministries’ headquarters calling the ministers to resign.

The source said in a brief statement received by IraqiNews.com, “The Ministry of Interior declared a state of maximum alert in the capital, Baghdad, after hundreds of protesters besieged the ministries’ headquarters, calling for the dismissal of the ministers and a comprehensive reform.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “The security forces were heavily deployed in the different areas of Baghdad, especially downtown, in anticipation of any emergency.”
