[DAWN] LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has detained two persons, including the office-bearer of a religious party, on suspicion of having relations with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP). A senior police official, privy to the information, told Dawn the suspects, identified as Asim and Azhar, were running a madressah at Samanabad. He said they were taken into custody by the officials of the law enforcement agency on the basis of some intelligence reports. One of them ‐ Asim ‐ was also said to be the office-bearer of a religious party, the official said, adding that the CTD had detained him under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He said the joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe the Gulshan-e-Park suicide kaboom would also grill the suspects. |
