Taliban suffer heavy casualties in Jawzjan airstrikes, MoD says

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Talibs suffered heavy casualties during the Arclight airstrikes conducted by the Afghan Air Force in northern Jawzjan province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said at least 35 turbans were killed and 16 others were maimed during the raids.

A statement by MoD said at least 14 cycle of violences and a vehicle belonging to the turbans were also destroyed in the Arclight airstrikes conducted in Aqcha district.

According to MoD, the turbans killed in the Arclight airstrikes had major role in terrorist activities against the local residents of Jawzjan.

is busy in coordinating military operations in the vicinity of this province.

The Office of the First Vice President in a statement said Monday that the main highway connecting Sherbarghan with Sar-e-Pul province was opened during the operations.

The statement further added that 40 villages were cleared as a result of the operations which are lying along the highway.

The operations were launched early on Monday morning with the Afghan Air Force providing close-air support to the Afghan cops.

The highway was considered as one of the volatile highways in the north ahead of the operations, the statement said, adding that the krazed killer groups and criminal gangs were involved in destructive activities, robberies and kidnappings on the highway.
