Lethal car bomb attack in Turkey's southeast [Ynet] A car kaboom in southeast ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... killed a civilian and maimed at least six military personnel, according to a senior government official and media reports. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with government protocol, said initial reports indicated a boom-mobile exploded near a gendarme outpost in Omerli, a town in Mardin Province. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. The civilian, he said, was a truck driver who was passing by in his vehicle. Six soldiers were maimed in the evening blast. Six Turkish Soldiers Killed in PKK Attacks [AnNahar] Militants from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Friday killed six Turkish soldiers in two separate attacks in the troubled southeast of the country, the army said. Two Turkish soldiers were killed in a gun attack by PKK members in the Derik district of Mardin province in the early morning, it said. Less than an hour later, four Turkish troops died in a roadside kaboom by the PKK in the Hakkari province of the extreme southeast of the country, it added. |
