Dupe entry: Univision To Lay Off 200 Employees |
2016-11-16 |
Too bad Jorge Ramos isn't leading the charge out the door. The Spanish-language media giant Univision Communications will lay off almost 6 percent of its workforce -- between 200 and 250 people -- after it slipped into the red last quarter, the company announced Wednesday. The layoffs, along with a planned restructuring, "are in response to difficult times, challenging times," Isaac Lee, Univision’s digital, entertainment and news chief, told The Washington Post in his first public comments on the moves. "We need to position ourselves for the future." Univision had a third-quarter net loss of $30.5 million, on total revenues of $735 million, down 8 percent. Congratulations - you're now a non-profit entity! |

#4 They do have some legs in the newsroom that can replace the over priced teleprompter reader over at Fox at a fraction of the price. |

#3 Why don't the Koch brothers start up media company or two and provide non-partisan news. Seems a gap has developed in the standard lineup. |

#2 Didn't Univision go all in to defeat Trump? Serves them right when a media outfit picks sides they deserve to lose. |

#1 We need to position ourselves for the future." Maybe you could leverage your corporate synergies. Or DIVERSITY! As for Ramos, seeing him frogmarched out of a Trump presser was reason enough to vote for The Donald. |
