| Complete ban on New Year’s Eve public gatherings |

| [Dhaka Tribune] Minister of Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal laid down this year’s restriction on celebrating the New Year and said major churches around the country will receive police protection during Christmas. The minister says there will be a complete ban on all public gatherings, demonstrations, and celebrations nationwide after 6pm. He says parties can only be held indoors after taking permission from the authorities. The minister noted that fireworks are not permitted to be used either. In addition, pubs have been ordered to close after 6pm as well. |
