Kurdish forces show Islamic State no mercy, capture over 80% of Tabqa
2017-05-02
[ALMASDARNEWS] A large ISIS flag in Tabqa city centre was pulled down today by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as their units secured downtown Tabqa, rendering jihadist bandidos snuffies in control of only 3 northern neighborhoods and a small portion of the adjacent Tabqa Dam.

Amid the Kurdish counter-insurgency operations, three boom-mobiles were immobilized and tons of armaments captured. Booby traps and mines were also continuously dismantled while humanitarian corridors have allowed over 20,000 civilians to escape.

Tabqa city was completely encircled on April 2; shortly after, the SDF liberated the Alexandria suburb which served as a launching pad to capture the former ISIS bastion.

US warplanes have aided the offensive with air support, conducted hundreds of Arclight airstrikes against ISIS bandidos snuffies while choppers have also been deployed, a relatively new development.

Once Tabqa city is wrestled from ISIS, the YPG-led SDF will head towards Raqqa city, the self-proclaimed ISIS capital since 2014.

#2  This is why the Turks are scared of the Kurds. in the south eastern 1/3 of Turkey, Kurds are a majority. If they do decide to rebel as a group, it would be a big civil war, and the Kurds know how to fight.

#1  The Iraqis need to learn from the kurds, maybe it wouldn't take them a year to get something done.
