Selected text from article:
British Airways could face a bill of at least £100m in compensation, additional customer care and lost business resulting from an IT meltdown that affected more than 1,000 flights over the weekend.

The glitch is believed to have been caused by a power supply issue and there is no evidence of a cyber-attack, the airline said.
Seriously, no redundancy build in to the system?
Ask the Air Force folks managing the sorties against ISIS how it ought to be done -- that is apparently precisely how it is not being done by all the major American airlines nowadays, who are operate right on the edge of falling into mathematical chaos. This is just an extreme example of the same mindset from the other side of the pond. And from Skidmark:
BBC: BA chief executive Alex Cruz says he will not resign and that flight disruption had nothing to do with cutting costs.

#1  IIRC, Delta had a similar problem not too long ago. It's really inexcusable for an airline to operate unprotected that way but the loss of 100 million pounds might smarten 'em up a bit.
