  • The men, described as being 'of Mediterranean origin', drove the white van at 50mph across the bridge

  • They mowed down up to 20 pedestrians, then jumped out of the van shouting 'this is for Allah', and began 'randomly stabbing' people

  • One horrified woman said she saw three people with what appeared to be their throats cut at London Bridge

  • Attackers, wearing fake suicide vests, then stabbed people with 12-inch hunting knives at busy pubs and bars in nearby Borough Market

  • The terrorists were shot and killed by armed police in Borough Market within eight minutes of the first call

  • A man in a black tracksuit was arrested in Vauxhall in an unrelated stabbing on Saturday night

Summary update as of 1:50 p.m. EDT:
  • 12 arrested this morning in an apartment building in Barking, east London, four of them women in traditional Islamic clothing

  • One of the apartments belonged to one of the dead terrorists, suggesting the police have identified them; neighbours described a father of two small children known to the neighbours as ""Abbs"

  • Another raid at East Ham may or may not be connected

  • Four police among the wounded, one or two considered serious

  • One of the wounded police held off the attackers armed only with a baton until he was knifed in the face

  • There wil be a temporary halt in campaigning out of respect for the casualties, but at this point no talk of postponing the election itself.

What's with all the reported gunshots on London Bridge? Was there actual gunshots or was it echos from Borough Market?

How long did it take for the LEOs to realize the reports of a forth and fifth persons were false?

What were the controlled explosions and why were they performed? It's pretty obvious that they were not done on the three, now dead, suspects.

As for fighting back, a bottle held by the neck and rapped against a bar edge often makes a wicked knife, although it seems the attackers were wearing protective gear.

Some actually did that, Alaska Paul. The Daily Mail, of course, has the story here. One bar was spared because a woman locked the front door, and the attacker couldn't break through the windows. It was ported that a gentleman -- and I do apologize for not being able to find the story -- apparently followed the attackers on foot as they progressed, then pointed them out to the arriving police. More responding as a pack, not a herd.

Only one question, how many of those bullets actually hit their targets? And no, I don't think it's an overreaction.

Rowley also discussed the unfortunate accidental shooting of a member of the public.

"As the officers confronted the terrorists – and were shot – a member of the public also suffered gunshot wounds. Although we do not believe the injuries to critical in nature, they are in hospital receiving medical attention. We will of course keep you updated on that.”

That the barbershop-owning Abedi cousins thus far appear clean and Westernized underlines it for me.

Families and neighborhoods are important what is being taught in the Sunni mosque and the literature that is being distributed there is key. If it is Wahabi or Ibn al Tahmiya or if Qutbs' Milestones is out there - then you are always a minute away from an attack. Most if not all of these folks radicalize openly...rarely in secret.

#16  Concur with Fred. Best to get on with it now before it's too late. Best to get it done before it can only be done by means of another holocaust. With their birthrate so much higher than ours they will eventually outnumber us in our own countries. Then they will either convert us or kill us.

I am not preaching hate, I am preaching reality. I don't want another holocaust. When you see two boys fighting on a playground what do you do? You separate them, hopefully before either one of them gets hurt.

I've heard it theorized that liberals have smaller amygdalas than conservatives. It doesn't mean conservatives are cowards, it means conservatives are quicker to recognize existential threats. Europe is currently facing the most serious existential threat since WWII.

The facts are there for everyone to see. People who study history should have been able to see it a long time ago. We cannot coexist with people who want us dead.

And I don't wanna hear that only a few of them want us dead. Enough of them do and you can't tell the ones that do from the ones that don't. There is no benefit to be gained from letting them live among us, only danger. Get 'em all outta here before we have to kill them all.
