[PJMedia] Group Calls for UN To Ban 'Cultural Appropriation'

Lately, social justice jihadis love to decry what they call "cultural appropriation." While the term was initially used to describe the disrespectful usage of cultural items, it has been mutated by the radical leftists to mean anything a white person might enjoy that didn't come from Europe.
I call it lamentations of the Perpetually Aggrieved.
Generally, the wailings and lamentations of the SJWs are something that we can roll our eyes about and go on with our day. After all, it's not like there are any laws against it, right?
Not Yet.
Well, some totalitarian zealots who are being described as "indigenous advocates" want a worldwide ban on activities that don't pair with your DNA:
I don't know, my DNA encompasses quite a lot from North Africa to Norway and from Native America to the Caucasus.
Indigenous advocates from around the world are calling on a UN committee to ban the appropriation of Indigenous cultures -- and to do it quickly.

Delegates from 189 countries, including Canada, are in Geneva this week as part of a specialized international committee within the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a United Nations agency.
Another useless feel-good group of twits.
Since it began in 2001, the committee has been working on creating and finishing three pieces of international law that would expand intellectual-property regulations to protect things like Indigenous designs, dances, words and traditional medicines.

The meeting takes place as concern grows worldwide about the rights of cultures to control their own materials. In the U.S. this week, designer Tory Burch agreed to change the description of one of her coats for women after Romanians protested that it had been described as African-inspired when it actually appropriated a traditional Romanian garment.
The world has gone bonkers.
Speaking to the committee Monday, James Anaya, dean of law at the University of Colorado, said the UN's negotiated document should "obligate states to create effective criminal and civil enforcement procedures to recognize and prevent the non-consensual taking and illegitimate possession, sale and export of traditional cultural expressions."
Absolutely insane.
OK, let's roll with this.

Effective immediately, Italian restaurants will have to stop selling pasta, since noodles were culturally appropriated from China.

Since cars were invented in the U.S. and Germany, no other peoples will be allowed to drive. The United States and all countries who followed its lead will need to dismantle their democratic republics, as they were appropriated from Greece and ancient Rome. Since we were a British colony, we'll need to return to being a kingdom.

The rest of the world must give up electricity. All-American, baby.

What is often termed "cultural appropriation" is actually appreciation. In the vast majority of cases, it's meant as a compliment. Sure, wearing a Plains Indian headdress for Coachella may not be respectful, but it's not intentionally insulting. After all, they look pretty badass.

Demanding that certain activities and items be off-limits pending the results of a blood test is racism of the worst kind. This movement is despicable, but idiot ideas like enforcing a worldwide ban allow us to have some fun mocking it.
Does that mean no more multi-culturalism? Can I still speak Spanish? Can I play German music on my accordion? What about Cajun and Creole? They take things from Spanish, French, Native American, and English cultures and blend them.
