Deep State Senior Fellow: ‘We Have a Dysfunctional Presidency' at This Moment in Time
2017-06-20
[Breitbart] Monday on CNN’s "Situation Room," when asked about the political fight over the Republican health care bill, former CIA Director Leon Panetta called the Donald Trump presidency "dysfunctional."

Panetta said, "This is a moment when, you know, you wonder why there are angry and frustrated people in this country who look to Washington and see very little getting done. And, you know, we have--there’s no question we have a dysfunctional Congress. I think to some extent we have a dysfunctional presidency as well at this moment in time. And I think everything, everything that can be done to try to put pressure on both Republicans and Democrats to work together to try to resolve these key issues, particularly on health care, is something that ought to be done now."

"I know the Democrats have to fight the Republicans," he continued. "I know the Republicans are doing their thing to try to keep this within the party. But I really think that both parties need to look at the larger picture here, which is that literally, the United States of America will be affected by what they do, and they can’t do this in secret, and they can’t do this simply by fighting each other over these kinds of issues. They have to learn to work together to do what is right for our country."

#30  Home depot. Ypur ignorance is stunning. Have you even watched Trumps show Apprentice????? Not only must you have a stsff that gives the top executive diverse views on complex topics, those views MUST BE PUBLIC domain for a follow-up public RFI n each of those views so the Executive can make the most effective final decision possible, junior.

#29  Home Depot. More knuckle dragging

#28  "If you hire a staff that agrees with everything you say..."

Providing conflicting information has nothing to do with public displays of agreement. Try to keep up here junior.

#26  If you hire staff that agrees with everything you say you are a piss poor executive and you are throwing money away on people you don't need. Dumb as a door knob knuckle draggers who have no business trying to look smart by spewing ignorance need to stick to selling door knobs at home depot.

#25  One of those situations where all the storage options for the machine added together don't equal a small portion of the storage in your camera or i-phone.

#24  I bet on 256K or 512K disks
Posted by: 3dc   2017-06-20 14:25

#23  But are those 8" double sided / dual density? Those 1 meg disks were the cats pajamas back in '79.

Posted by: 3dc   2017-06-20 13:25

#21  With the 8" comment are they still using old Corvus Concepts or IBM punch to floppy machines?
Posted by: 3dc   2017-06-20 13:23

#20  Raj. In the tech meeting the 8" ones were mentioned.
I haven't seen any since about 1982.
Posted by: 3dc   2017-06-20 13:21

#19   I understand some government agency's still have floppy disks.

The old 5.25" disks or did they upgrade to the newer 3.5" 1.44 MB disks?

#18  "you may discard those words"

The wilful omission of rhetorical qualifiers (paticularly in a headline) reveals the editors agenda to intentionally mislead. Pannetta expresses uncertainty in both degree and duration. The edited headline subtlety insinuates declaritive certainty.

"...and what are their arguments?"

One example of dysfunction would be the conflicting information regarding health care legislation between the President and his staff.

#17  Yes, we have a dysfunctional Congress who is for "we the people" only until elected. Then it's all about keeping the $$ , the perqs and the power at the expense of "we the people". Now, OTH, we have Trump who has had tons of $$, power and perqs before and probably fewer now. Who, I ask you, would seem to have better intentions and be non-dysfunctional?

#16  When read in full the statement doesn't sound all that unreasonable.

When a Deep State fuckhead say something like that with words like 'to some extent' and 'moment in time' attached to either side of it, you may discard those words.

And some may argue it's an acurate assessment.

Who? Who are these "some" and what are their arguments?

#15  Not "anti-Trump". Just Anti-misleading headlines for gullible consumers. But thanks for the renforcement of my point.

#14  Completely dissagree with both Panetta and the Home Depot guys usual anti-Trump spital.
Posted by: Threatch Jeamp8135   2017-06-20 11:11

#13  I don't know what world Panetta is in but yesterday's meeting of the Tech Part of AMERICA INC. with the Trumps is the most effective I have ever seen any US president in my life!

A functional path to remove 1 Trillion $ off inefficiency from government is pretty big! They chance that it might generate 2 Trillion of increase in the economy too is pretty damn big!

Posted by: 3dc   2017-06-20 11:11

#12  The actual quote (As opposed to Breitbart's usual contextually challenged headline.) reads;

"I think to some extent we have a dysfunctional presidency as well at this moment in time."

When read in full the statement doesn't sound all that unreasonable. And some may argue it's an acurate assessment.

#11  "dysfunctional" - definition: He ain't one of us.
Posted by: AlmostAnonymous5839   2017-06-20 09:50

#10  #9 Ditto. Congress lives in the past. Trump is moving along at warp speed and they peddle their tricycles. Congress really is retro. They have not kept up with the technology of the times. I understand some government agency's still have floppy disks.

#7  Lets see:

Friday the President went to Florida to announce Obama's pandering to Communist Cuba has been disfunctionalated.

Last week Mr President and Mr Vice President had numerous meetings with Latin American leaders opening up opportunities for US companies to help modernize Central and South American countries.

Today Mr President had another one of those meetimgs with a Latin American leader. The rest of the day was round tables and luncheons with major US tech company leaders on stream lining and over hauling the Federal Government with the latest technologies to make fovernment smaller and more efficient.

I do believe we have a very busy 5 star CEO in the Oval Office Mr Piniota.

#6  Yes, and we have a dysfunctional and corrupt political class, which is how you got Trump.

At the rate you are going, you will corrupt and dysfunctional your way into prison or worse once we get fully sick of your shit.

#5  In front of a firing squad, grom. A functional government would have the Obama and Clinton cliques in front of a firing squad.

#4  A functional Presidency would have the whole lot of them in jail?

#3  “There was never any [Benghazi] order to stand down,” he said on Thursday. “On the contrary, the whole effort was to do everything possible to try to save lives.”
