| Foreign student population in U.S. grows to 1.2 million |

| [Wash Times] Nearly 1.2 million foreign students are living and studying at schools in the U.S., Homeland Security reported Friday, with the vast majority of those coming from Asia. The data, collected by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from its student and exchange visitor database, said the number is up 2 percent compared to 2016. China dominates the program, with 362,368 students, trailed by India at 206,698. More than 500,000 of the students are pursuing science, technology, engineering or math degrees -- a group that has been the focus of intense debate. Business leaders say those are the kinds of workers the U.S. needs, and have proposed granting quick paths to citizenship to them to keep them here. But technology worker advocates worry about competition with American citizens in those fields. |

| #7 Some foreign students remain in college after graduating and professionally employed as it is the easiest way to extend their stay until they get an H1B lottery position. So this may increase the count. |

| #5 China dominates the program, with 362,368 students, trailed by India at 206,698. Chinese and Indians? Better than some of the alternatives. However, the taxpayers are picking up part of the tab for these students. The money spent ought to be directed towards American students. |

| #4 Cause America is a racist, xenophobic, homophobic intolerant country? Betcha most of them aren't majoring in the 'Arts'. On, and unlike another group of 'foreigners' they're documented and not a drain on tax resources. |

| #2 Their tuition keeps many universities afloat. They are often the best students in their classes, despite English not being their first language. Many stay on after graduation or return later and become excellent workers. Unfortunately many take their skills home to work with our enemies. |
