| [AA.TR] Israeli police on Friday released Jerusalem’s top Moslem holy man Sheikh Mohammad Hussein who was detained earlier near the al-Aqsa mosque, Paleostine's official news agency WAFA reported. The mufti was taken into custody from the Bab al-Asbat area (Lion’s Gate) after Friday prayer. "Israeli police detained my father in a violent manner and took him to unknown destination," Omar, son of the grand mufti, had told Anadolu Agency. Hundreds of Paleostinians performed Friday prayer in Bab al-Asbat after they were prevented from praying at the al-Aqsa mosque.
Sabri served as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem between 1994 and 2006 and was dismissed by PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... due to his Death Eater views, which were not consistent with the PA's official policy. Sabri has indirectly expressed his support for terror attacks against Israel over the years, and according to his public statements, he shares many of his opinions with Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",. As a result of his Death Eater views, he has been under the scrutiny of the Israeli defense establishment for some time. | |
