[SHABELLENEWS] A heavy battle between Al shabaab Death Eaters and Somali government forces backed by Kenyan defense forces broke out in the outskirts of Bardere district in Gedo region.The fighting erupted after Al shabaab has targeted KDF convoy with a land mine kaboom at Fahfahdhun village, while transporting supplies to a military camp in Tarako area.
After the kaboom on Kenyan military, Al shabaab launched an ambush against Somali government forces in the area, triggering a fierce shootout that left soldiers and Death Eaters dead.
Shukri Abdullahi Hussein, a senior Somali military commander in the region said several government soldiers sustained a slight wounds in the attack, and continued their duties.
Al shabaab grabbed credit for the attack, through a statement published on its affiliated websites, saying they killed Kenya soldiers, and burnt down armored vehicles.
