#3 Saffron makes farmers a ton more money than opium which is why I mention it. Yeah, but saffron does not get you high. Opium production, used in heroin manufacture, increased during the last 8 years in Afghanistan. Saffron will not satisfy a junkies need for heroin. Cutting back on production will increase demand and price all the more. The demand side of drugs needs to be worked on as well as the supply side. |

#2 No, actually. They have a feeling for how this works with locals now. Before it was too dangerous. Give them a chance for real, They may have seen the Light and want to get it under control at the local level. This may have become one of the best things we have done if we listen to those on the ground. They may have awakened but it takes a long time. |
