#6  More like a trickle compared to the rest of you, dear Skidmark. But I came across that piece many years ago, and it struck me as important as histories laying out how ungolden for the dhimmis was Spain’s Muslim “Gooden Age”, so I saved the link. Both the peaceful mysticism of the Sufis and the magnanimous behaviour of the conquerers of Spain are frequently and wrongly held up as reasons not to fuss about the current colonization — and both are dangerously wrong.

#3  Everyone belongs to God, newc, even unto ISIS. But it is important to remember that Sufism is not a mystical, gentle, and loving form of Islam that rejects jihad and dhimmitude, but rather a mystical form of Islam that has historically demanded jihad and abuse of dhimmis just like the rest of the religion. This Andrew Bostum essay from 2005 lays out in detail how harsh Sufis have been across the breadth and history of Islam.
